Hackescher Markt is a station on the Stadtbahn S-Bahn line which runs east-west through the centre of Berlin. It is also a major tram interchange. HistoryHackescher Markt station was originally known as Börse (Stock Exchange). Following the Second World War it was renamed Marx-Engels-Platz (Marx-Engels Square), although it was some distance away from the actual square.
