Berlin's markets have always been an important part of the weekly shopping trip. In recent years the traditional covered markets have withered somewhat under the onslaught of competition from supermarkets and the new shopping malls, but the outdoor markets with fresh produce from the surrounding region - much of it grown organically - have gone from strength to strength.

Berlin is also famous for its Flea Markets in Berlin.
