"English Events in Berlin" in cooperation with Cinemasports is showing 15 short films from around the world in Neukölln. The showing starts at 8.30pm and will last about 1.5 hours, after which there'll be a party complete with DJ. Entry is €2. Location is the WAMOS loft at Hasenheide 9, 2nd Hinterhof, Aufgang 1.

"English Events in Berlin" (link) will be holding their regular weekly Language Party on Wednesday, March 21 beginning at 7pm. As always entry is €1, there'll be an opportunity to exchange English language books and early-comers might snag some homemade hummus.

This week's feature will be concert fromRussian / Welsh duo (guitar & violin) "Future Free".

Big news just in - the incredibly famous Mr. Bean, aka Rowan Atkinson, will be at the Kulturkaufhaus Dussmann on Thursday, 22nd March, and will be available to sign things. From 6 to 7pm.

"English Events in Berlin" are hosting their weekly party once again on Wednesday on the Eastern Comfort ship, moored on the Spree near Schlesisches Tor. This week's event features a salsa-ruida lesson beginning at 10pm. Cost is €1.

"English Events in Berlin" (link) are hosting their regular Language Party (aka "Boat Party") on Wednesday 7th March from 7pm onwards. Entry is just €1 and homemade hummus is available for early guests. The party is a great place to meet people from all over the world and form new language partnerships.

Café Sala del Popolo in Prenzlauer Berg is offering informal German conversation classes on two evenings this month (Tue. March 13th and Tue. March 27th from 7.30pm - 9pm). The classes will be led by a professional German teacher. The topic on the 13th will be: "Sind die Deutschen wirklich humorlos", and on the 27th German history as taught in the GDR will be the subject. The fee of €10  includes a coffee or a glass of wine. The Berlin Half-Marathon 2007 will take place on April 1, 2007 (registration is open until March 16th). Over 20,000 runners are expected to take part on the very flat course which takes in many of Berlin's tourist attractions.

On Thursay, March 8, Kulturkaufhaus Dussmann will be hosting "English Readings: British Authors at the KulturKaufhaus" featuring authors from the current British literature scene. On the schedule are: Peter James, who'll be reading from his novel "Looking Good Dead"; Roger Boyes, Berlin correspondent of the London Times ("My dear Krauts - Wie ich die Deutschen entdeckte"); and William Boyd ("Restless"). The event starts at 4.30pm; entrance is free. There'll also be an après-reading party with free drinks.

The eastern district of Lichtenberg previously hasn't featured much on Berlin's nightlife map. That might (or might not) be changing with the opening of a new club, Electro-Kohle not far from Lichtenberg Station. Opening night is Friday from 11pm. More infos: http://myspace.com/elektrokohle.

Berlin's flagship department store, the Kaufhaus des Westens is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Thursday (March 1). To mark the event there will be a party - open to everyone - with Sekt and a 6.5 metre (about 20 feet) high cake weighing 1.5 tonnes.
