History

Schlesisches Tor was opened on February 19, 1902 as one of the first Berlin U-Bahn stations.

With the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the section of the U1 which passes over the Oberbaumbrücke was severed, leaving Warschauer Straße isolated in the eastern sector. Schlesisches Tor became the eastern terminus of the U1 and remained so until 1995, when the link to Warschauer Straße was finally reconstructed.
