History

Heinrich-Heine-Straße was opened on April 6, 1928 as the temporary northern terminus of the U8's first section between here andLeinestraße (Station). On April 18, 1930 the northern section of the U8 as far as Berlin-Gesundbrunnen was opened.

Originally the station was called Neanderstraße. It was renamed to Heinrich-Heine-Straße on August 31, 1960. Between 1961 and 1989 it became one of the so-calledGhost Stations. It was reopened on July 1, 1990.
