Frankfurter Tor is a station on Berlin's U-Bahn line U5 located on Karl-Marx-Allee.

History

Frankfurter Tor was opened on December 21, 1930 as Petersburger Straße. In 1957 it was renamed Bersarinstraße (Frankfurter Tor) in honour of Nikolai Besarin, the first Soviet commandant of Berlin, although this was shortened to Frankfurter Tor later in the same year. In 1991 it became Rathaus Friedrichshain, then in 1996 Frankfurter Tor was restored, only to be changed to Petersburger Straße later in the same year. Finally, in 1998, it became Frankfurter Tor once more.
