Looks like it will be a nice summer this year (fingers crossed) - the long range weather forecast says so, and tradition has it that if the weather's good in the last week of June, it will stay that way for most of the rest of the summer.

In the short term that means temperatures well over 30°C (85°-95°F) with occasional thundery showers. The air in Berlin is quite dry and there's usually a breeze, so unless you're out in direct sunlight it's quite pleasant.

Well, I'm off for an ice cream.

Football Lettuce In case you hadn't noticed there's a major football-orientated sporting event going on at the moment in Berlin. If you're in Berlin there is absolutely no way you can miss it - starting with the sphere on top of thetelevision tower, the beautiful game's primary equipment item is everywhere.

I did feel however that the plastic wrapping around this lettuce is taking things a bit far.
