Nazi Berlin

Hitler's National Socialists or Nazis ruled Berlin for just twelve years, between 1933 and 1945. Despite their grand plans for rebuilding Berlin as the new Reich capital Germania, they left comparatively little impression on the city as a whole (apart from causing its wholesale destruction towards the end of the war) - but what they did build tends to stand out.

	The former Reichsbank - now part of the German Foreign Ministry
	Tempelhof Airport - a vast monumental structure ranking among the world's largest buildings by surface area. The airport is scheduled to close in 2007, but the buildings will be preserved.
	The former Reich Air Ministry - once the headquarters of Goering's Luftwaffe, now Germany's Ministry of Finance.
Coming soon:
	The New Reich Chancellery was Hitler's power base and the site of his demise. Built in just one year to a design by Albert Speer, it has now almost completely vanished from Berlin's urban landscape.
