The German Museum of Technology (Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin) is a mecca for fans of transport and technology. Despite its name, the majority of exhibits are transport-related, and the museum itself is located on part of the old railway yards near Anhalter Bahnhof.

The museum's most prominent exhibit is a bomber used in the Berlin Airlift which is spectacularly attached to the front of the museum. Behind this is the museum's four-storey new building. The two lower floors are dedicated to ships and maritime history, while the two upper floors display the history of aviation from the beginnings to the post-war period, with an emphasis on aviation in Germany.

The museum's entrance is located in an older building, formerly part of the railway yards, and contains a restaurant and a gift shop as well as various miscellaneous exhibits. These include a history of textile production and displays of television and computer technology (including a reproduction of one of Germany's first computers).

Off the south side of the entrance area a passage leads through to the railway exhibitions, housed in two reconstructed roundhouses which formerly served the Anhalter Bahnhof. On display are locomotives and rolling stock from the early days of rail in Central Europe through to an experimental locomotive used for the development of the ICE high speed train.

Here you can also go outside into part of the old railway yards, where various other miscellaneous exhibits are on show, including some windmills and odd bits of ship they had nowhere else to put.
