Adenauerplatz (Station)
U-Bahnhof Adenauerplatz
Adenauerplatz is a station on Berlin's U-Bahn lines U7. Convenient forAdenauerplatz is located on the western end of the Ku'damm in an area of Charlottenburg with many high-end shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Fare zoneAdenauerplatz is in VBB fare zone A. HistoryThe station was opened on April 28, 1978 as part of the westwards expansion of the U7 towards Spandau. Typically for the era, it was fitted out in a garish colour scheme - in this case dominated by bright yellow - but in 2004 was redeveloped with more sober colours. Both designs make use of the letter "A" as a dominant motif. There are long-standing plans to extend the existing stub line which runs from Wittenbergplatz along the Ku'damm as far as Uhlandstraße (currently forming part of the U1) westwards towards Westkreuz. The proposed line would intersect with the U7 at Adenauerplatz, to which end an unused platform was constructed below the U7 platform to facilitate interchange. It is unlikely this line will be built in the forseeable future. Links
