Skate Night Berlin

Skate-Night-Berlin

If you do inline skating and want to see Berlin from a different perspective, check out the Skate Night Berlin. It's an organised skate course through the streets of central Berlin, and anyone can take part for free.

Skate Nights are always held on Sunday evenings three or for times a month. Check the organisers' website (link below) for the exact dates. Starting point is the Platz des 18. März on the western (Tiergarten) side of the Brandenburg Gate. Skaters gather from about 7.30pm and the skating itself starts at 8.30pm. The course will vary each time and will be between 17 and 19 kilometres in total length, but it's not a competition and skaters can join and leave on any part of the route. Note that this is an officially registered event and roads used by the skaters will be temporarily closed to other traffic by the police.

Skate Nights will not take place when it is likely to rain. Also, due to the football World Cup, there will be no Skate Nights between May 28 and June 9.

Should you by any chance not have brought your inline skates with you, skates will be available for rental at the starting point, although it's advisable to come early to ensure you can get some.
