Berlin 3D in Google Earth
The city of Berlin has just launched a freely available Google Earth
extension service enabling users to see many of the city's buildings in
true three dimensional form.
The project's homepage is here. To enable Berlin 3D you need to download the .kmz file available from this link.
Currently the Linux version of Google Earth does not seem to work with this service. Also, the servers are currently very busy and it takes some time to download the buildings' image data.
Note: when using the standard Google Earth service with the option "3D Buildings" selected, a few very prominent buildings (the Television Tower, the Reichstag and the Forum Hotel) are already visible as 3D objects; these however are fairly primitive line drawings and do not compare with the
