What britspotting is not: an activity which takes place in any of Berlin's Irish pubs. What it is: a festival of independent British film, started in 2000 to introduce recent, innovatve British film productions to Germany. The event - run in collaboration with the British Council - is dedicated to showing independent films from all parts of the British Isles, with works from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland featuring strongly in its programme. Since 2004 an "Irish Focus" has been introduced as a regular part of the festival, expanding coverage to the whole of the British Isles.

britspotting takes place in Berlin, Munich and Stuttgart. The Berlin event takes place between April 19 and April 25, cinemas taking part includeACUDkino, fsk Kino and theHackesche Höfe Filmtheater.
