Kurfürstendamm
Kurfürstendamm
Further down towards Olivaer Platz the Ku'damm becomes more sedate: there are more exclusive shops including some from such renowned names as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jil Sander and Gianni Versace. The top end of the Ku'damm at Breitscheidplatz merges into the Tauentzienstrasse, less glamorous than the Ku'damm but actually busier and full of shops - it's here where you'll find department stores such as the famous KaDeWe. The Ku'damm's side streets are also worth a look - here you'll find a mixture of more down-to-earth stores including junk and antique shops as well as small but exclusive boutiques and extremely trendy hair salons. Shops and RestaurantsMost shops open from Monday to Saturday between 9am or 10am in the morning and 8pm - 10pm in the evening. Restaurants are generally open late into the night. Access and TransportAs befits such a central location, the Ku'damm is easily accessible: apart from having its own U-Bahn station (U1, U9) it is a major bus route (M19, M29, 109) and is just a short walk from Zoo Station. Common misspellingsFor non-German speakers, Kurfürstendamm presents somewhat of an orthographical challenge. Common misspellings include Kudamm, Kurfürstendam and Kurfurstendamm. Do not confuse Kurfürstendamm with Kurfürstenstraße.
