Indian Embassy

Botschaft der Republik Indien

Indian Embassy, Berlin The Indian Embassy is one of the newly constructed embassies in the Tiergartenstraße diplomatic quarter. Built between 1998 and 2000 by German architects Léon / Wohlhage, it is an elongated building on a comparatively narrow plot. The long, rectangular building is divided into distinct functional areas, with the consular and administrative divisions together with exhibition rooms located in the northern section facing the Tiergartenstraße. The Ambassador's residence is located in the embassy's southern section, on the opposite side of the central garden courtyard. A cylindrical pavillion in the centre of the building bundles the various access and connection routes.

The architects employed red sandstone from India as the primary facade material to give the building an Indian character.
